Will Chase Eyeing Nashville Return
Turns out that just because Will Chase is set to show how hard it is to be the Bard in Broadway's Something Rotten!, he may still appear in the fifth season of Nashville, which will now air on CMT after ABC dropped it. Variety reports that Chase is in talks to go back for a few episodes to complete his storyline, although he wouldn’t be a series regular. The stage and screen star will begin performances at the St. James Theatre, taking over for Tony winner Christian Borle, on July 18.
Alexandra Silber Pens Fiddler Novel
Fiddler on the Roof’s Alexandra Silber is set to publish a sequel to the classic work! The book came about after the actress spent two years as Hodel in the tuner in the U.K. “I had to know what happens to this 18-year-old girl who gets on a train and goes to Siberia in the name of love,” Silber revealed to the New York Times. So, she wrote a novel, After Anatevka, which will be published by Pegasus in the summer of 2017. Silber is currently appearing as the oldest daughter, Tzeitel, at the Broadway Theatre.
Casting Set for Samuel D. Hunter’s The Harvest
Gideon Glick, Scott Jaeck, Leah Karpel, Madeleine Martin, Peter Mark Kendall, Christopher Sears and Zoë Winters have been enlisted for off-Broadway's The Harvest. Samuel D. Hunter’s play is set in Idaho and follows a group of young missionaries preparing to go to the Middle East. Directed by Davis McCallum, the production will play a limited engagement October 8 through November 20 at Lincoln Center’s Claire Tow Theater. Opening night is scheduled for October 24.
Hamilton Cast Members to Support Rising Stars
Hamilton’s Anthony Ramos and Emmy Raver-Lampman, along with The Color Purple's Kyle Scatliffe, are just some of the previous Rising Stars tapped for Town Hall’s Broadway Rising Stars Concert on July 11. The event, now in its tenth year, showcases the next generation of up-and-coming talent who are the most outstanding new graduates from schools including Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, CAP21 and NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
