Cheno Unveils Album Details
Further details have emerged about Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth’s upcoming album, The Art of Elegance, which will drop on September 23 via Concord Records. Naturally the new artwork is suitably stylish! “Elegance is a quality that I look for, in music and in life,” says the pocket diva. She will tackle 13 timeless classic songs, such as George Gershwin’s “Someone to Watch Over Me,” Harold Arlen’s “Let’s Fall in Love” and Johnny Mercer’s “Skylark.” “Of course I love to sing songs that people know,” asserts Chenoweth. “Songs that we’ve heard before are like our DNA; we know them in our hearts.” Well, Chenoweth is in Broadway fans’ hearts, and we hope to see her back on the Great White Way soon!
Billy Porter & Justin Bartha Set for Rabbit
Tony winner Billy Porter, Justin Bartha and Stana Katic are the latest big names enlisted for White Rabbit Red Rabbit off-Broadway. Porter will headline the production on September 12, Bartha on September 19 and Katic on September 26. The New York premiere of Nassim Soleimanpour’s solo show, which involves a different actor every performance seeing the script for the first time just before they go on stage, is playing Monday nights at the Westside Theatre.
Megan Hilty, Chita Rivera & More B'way Faves Team Up
Megan Hilty, Chita Rivera, Orfeh, Alice Ripley, Adrienne Warren, Anika Larsen, Keala Settle, Tony Yazbeck and Rosie Perez are just some of the Broadway stalwarts who are set to join forces for Voices for the Voiceless: Stars for Foster Kids. The second annual benefit concert, which will raise awareness about the plight of kids in foster care, is scheduled for September 12 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Buy tickets here.
Pat Benatar Musical Eyes Broadway
A new rock ‘n’ roll musical following the love story between rock stars Pat Benatar and her lead guitarist/hubby Neil Giraldo is in the works and aiming for a 2017 Main Stem bow. Deadline reports that Gary Lennon (OITNB) will pen the book for the tuner; Benatar’s 1980s hits include “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” and “Love Is a Battlefield.” The four-time Grammy winner was the first female artist to play on MTV, performing "You Better Run.” Check out the video below!
