Broadway legend Chita Rivera will headline Carnegie Hall this fall. With her leading men including Alan Cumming and Andy Karl, Chita: Nowadways is scheduled to take place on November 7.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to play one of the most prestigious venues in the world, Carnegie Hall,” said Rivera in a statement. “We’re going to have a ball!”
Rivera's electric performance as Anita in the original Broadway premiere of West Side Story brought her stardom. She earned Tony Awards for The Rink and Kiss of the Spider Woman, as well as picking up nominations for The Visit, Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life, Nine, Jerry's Girls, Merlin, Bring Back Birdie, Chicago and Bye Bye Birdie.
Directed by Graciela Daniele with music director Michael Croiter leading a 15-piece band, Chita: Nowadays will feature signature favorites, new selections and special collaborations with her guests, plus a very unique version of the West Side Story classic “America.”
