Lazarus Cast Album to Feature Final Bowie Recordings
The original cast album of David Bowie’s off-Broadway show Lazarus, which starred Michael C. Hall, Cristin Milioti and Michael Esper, will include the legend’s last three studio recordings. Standing alongside the stage company’s interpretations of Bowie’s work, his tracks “No Plan,” “Killing A Little Time” and “When I Met You” will bring new dimensions to their cast counterparts. The record will drop on October 21; a London production of the tuner is scheduled to officially open on November 8 the King Cross Theatre, once again led by Hall.
Family Ties Stage Adaptation in the Works
Classic TV show Family Ties is heading to the stage, courtesy of The Araca Group. Adapted by playwright Daniel Goldstein, the show is set to debut in in June 2017 at the Human Race Theatre in Dayton, in homage to the series’ original Ohio setting. The production will be a non-musical play and will draw from the entire series arc of the original program. Casting will be announced later.
Fiddler Switches Up Schedule
Fiddler on the Roof has canceled the October 11 performance, which falls on the evening of Yom Kippur, to give company members who observe the holiday the ability to do so. The revival will instead play a special Columbus Day performance on October 10 as well as evening shows on October 9 and October 16. Broadway.com customers with tickets to the canceled performance will be contacted with information on refunds or exchanges.
Catch Brandon Victor Dixon & More in Concert
A trio of concerts of note for your calendar. Broadway’s Will Swenson and Ryan Silverman will guest star with Melissa Errico at Feinstein’s/54 Below from September 20 through September 24, while Hamilton’s Brandon Victor Dixon and more have been tapped to join three-time Tony winner Jamie deRoy in Jamie deRoy & Friends at Birdland on October 16. There’s also a date for next spring: Tony winner Kelli O’Hara, Bill Irwin, Lauren Worsham and Christopher Fitzgerald will appear in Victor Herbert and Glen MacDonough’s Babes in Toyland alongside MasterVoices and the Orchestra of St. Luke's, on April 27, 2017 at Carnegie Hall, conducted by Ted Sperling.
