Adam Driver Eyes Broadway
Star Wars villain (if you don’t know that by now, where have you been?) Adam Driver could be heading back to Broadway in A Streetcar Named Desire. Last seen on the Main Stem in the 2011 revival of Man and Boy, the New York Post accredits the “mumble” to Sam Gold, who won a Tony for Fun Home and will helm Sally Field in The Glass Menagerie revival in the spring. Streetcar was last seen on Broadway in 2012, starring Blair Underwood.
Hand to God Most-Produced Play of 2016-17 Season
American Theatre has published its annual list of the most-produced plays. Robert Haskins’ Hand to God came out on top, followed by Nick Payne’s Constellations, Ayad Akhtar’s Disgraced, Floyd Mutrux’s Million Dollar Quartet and Lucas Hnath’s The Christians. This documentary looks like a theater buff’s dream! Check out below the trailer for Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened—a behind-the-scenes look into the “then” and “now” of Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along, which wasn't quite the hit everyone was expecting when it opened on Broadway in 1981...The film has been acquired for theatrical distribution by Abramorama and will make its world premiere at the New York Film Festival on October 9, followed by a limited release to movie theaters from November 18.
