Tony nominee Carey Mulligan and the Broadway-bound Jake Gyllenhaal have been tapped to star in Wildlife. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the directorial debut from actor Paul Dano is set to start production in November and will film in Montana and Oklahoma.
Dano and Zoe Kazan adapted the screenplay from the 1990 novel by Richard Ford, which follows a teenage boy who sees his parents’ marriage disintegrate when they move to Montana.
Mulligan was Tony nominated for Skylight and made her Broadway debut in The Seagull. She earned an Oscar nod for An Education and has also appeared in Suffragette, Inside Llewyn Davis, The Great Gatsby, Drive, Never Let Me Go, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Brothers, Pride and Prejudice, My Boy Jack, When Did You Last See Your Father? and Public Enemies.
Gyllenhaal will return to Broadway in February 2017 for Burn This; he made his Main Stem debut in Constellations. Other theater credits include Little Shop of Horrors at City Center, If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet off-Broadway and This Is Our Youth in the West End. His numerous screen credits include Brokeback Mountain, for which he received an Oscar nod, Prisoners, Enemy, Source Code and Nightcrawler. He will next be seen on stage in a concert presentation of Sunday in the Park with George at City Center.
