A lot has happened to Cindy Lou Who in the past 40 years; she earned a Tony nod and now names Bette among her peers. Disaster! Tony nominee Jennifer Simard will headline the world premiere of Who’s Holiday off-Broadway before appearing in Hello, Dolly! this spring. Tickets are now on sale for Matthew Lombardo’s Grinch parody, which will be directed by Carl Andress and begin performances on November 2 at New World Stages (Stage 1).
The show follows a middle-aged Cindy Lou Who as she prepares for a Christmas Eve party in her trailer on Mount Crumpit. Through a series of couplets, she charts the events of the past 40 years following her fateful first meeting with the Grinch.
In addition to Disaster!, Simard’s stage credits include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Sister Act, Shrek, Forbidden Broadway and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.
Who’s Holiday will open officially on November 16 and run through January 2. The production will feature sets by David Gallo, lighting by Ken Billington, costumes by Jess Goldstein and sound design by Bart Fasbender.
