Emmy and Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis will return to the London stage to headline a new production of Edward Albee’s The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?. Directed by Ian Rickson, the show is set to begin previews at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on March 24, 2017 and officially open on April 5.
A darkly comic and disturbing view on the collapse of familial relationships, The Goat has all of Albee’s characteristically witty tones as well as being a deeply tragic portrayal of a couple and their teenage son in crisis when the father embarks on an improbable and impossible love affair from which there is no return.
Lewis is set play Martin. Last seen on the London stage in American Buffalo, he is best known for his roles on screen in Billions, Homeland and Wolf Hall.
The limited engagement is scheduled to run through June 24; there will be no performances May 29 through June 4.
