Falsettos will march to the recording studio. The new Broadway revival is set to release a cast album, marking the first time the musical will be recorded in its entirety. Release dates for the album, recorded by Ghostlight Records, will be announced at a later date.
The production, directed by co-book writer James Lapine, featrues Tony winner Christian Borle, Stephanie J. Block, Andrew Rannells, Brandon Uranowitz, Tracie Thoms, Betsy Wolfe and Anthony Rosenthal. It is set to open officially on October 27.
The musical by Lapine and William Finn follows Marvin (Borle), who struggles to create a "tight knit family" out of his eclectic array of core relationships, including his ex-wife Trina (Block), his new boyfriend Whizzer (Rannells), his adolescent son (Rosenthal), his psychiatrist (Uranowitz) and his neighbors (Thoms and Wolfe). Amidst a series of life changes, he is forced to reckon with his own views on love and responsibility.
Falsettos is scheduled to run at the Walter Kerr Theatre through January 8, 2017.
