Rachel Bloom, the co-creator and star of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, has put together an impressive lineup for a new Funny or Die video, below, encouraging people to vote. Broadway favorites contributing to her number, "Holy Shit (You’ve Got to Vote),” include Patti LuPone, Jaime Camil, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jane Lynch and more. And yes, when you watch, you heard that right, Donald Trump does get called an “orange talking STD.”
Norm Lewis Enlisted for VH1's Daytime Divas
Tony nominee Norm Lewis has landed a recurring role in VH1’s Daytime Divas. Inspired by Star Jones’ Satan’s Sisters…A Novel of Fiction, about a fictitious long-running talk show entitled The Lunch Hour, the scripted series is scheduled to premiere next year. Lewis will play William, a handsome doorman who may hold one of the cohosts’ darkest secrets, with Patti LaBelle taking on the role of his prying mom, Gloria. Sounds like compulsive viewing!
Sister Sledge Musical in the Works
We’re lost in music! A Sister Sledge musical is aiming for the West End. “We were recently approached by a theater producer in Chicago about doing a girl’s group musical, and I think that this would be fantastic,” band member Joni Sledge revealed at a recent charity event at Battersea Evolution in London. Sister Sledge’s hits include "We Are Family," "Lost in Music" and "Frankie."
The Life, Helmed by Michael Blakemore, to Bow in U.K. The Life will make its U.K. premiere, directed (and updated) by Michael Blakemore, the show’s original Broadway director. Featuring a score by Cy Coleman, based on an original idea by lyricist Ira Gasman, with a book by Coleman, Gasman and David Newman, the show is an exposé of the darker side of 1980’s New York. Starring Sharon D. Clarke as Sonja and Cornell S. John as Memphis, the production will play a limited engagement from March 25, 2017 through April 29 at the Southwark Playhouse. Opening night is slated for March 29.
