He writes, he raps, he drinks, he produces. Lin-Manuel Miranda has been tapped to serve as creative producer for a film and TV series adaptation of The Kingkiller Chronicle, according to The Wrap. The Hamilton mastermind will also compose the score and pen songs for the cross-platform project.
The first book of Patrick Rothfuss’ fantasy trilogy was released in 2007, with the final chapter still on the way. The series is framed by Kvothe, an adventurous artist and musician in the world of the Four Corners of Civilization who now lives as a rural innkeeper and orally delivers his autobiography to the writer Devan Lochees over the course of three days (one book for each day).
No word yet on the timeline for the film and television series. Miranda’s deal with Lionsgate also allows him to be a part of any future stage adaptations of the series.
Miranda is a vocal fan of Rothfuss’ work; in a statement, he said, “Pat Rothfuss’ Kingkiller books are amont the most read and re-read in our home. It’s a world you want to spend lifetimes in. Pat also writes about the act of making music more beautifully than any novelist I’ve ever read.“ The author caught one of Miranda’s final performances in Hamilton in June.
The @PatrickRothfuss came through and it was as glorious as I'd hoped. Earned my pipes. pic.twitter.com/uVpYMR7mcy
