Christian Borle & More Set for Gypsy of the Year
Tony winners Christian Borle, Cynthia Erivo and Jessie Mueller, along with many more Broadway favorites, will make guest appearances at the 28th annual Gypsy of the Year competition, the annual celebration of the dedication and passion of ensemble singers and dancers. This year's event will feature more than 150 Broadway and off-Broadway singers and dancers and shows scheduled to perform original numbers include Hamilton, The Lion King, On Your Feet!, School of Rock, Waitress and Wicked. There will also be celebratory send off to Jersey Boys before it closes on January 15, featuring more than 60 of the musical's stars from past and present, including Mark Ballas, Richard Blake, Charl Brown, Andy Karl, Drew Seeley and Jarrod Spector. The event is set to take place on December 5 and December 8 and is produced by and benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Susan Egan Enlisted for Laura Osnes' Princess Party
Susan Egan, Broadway’s original Belle in Beauty and the Beast, will join Laura Osnes, Christy Altomare, Arielle Jacobs, Taylor Louderman, Courtney Reed, Jenna Ushkowitz, Adrienne Warren and more for the latest Broadway Princess Party at Feinstein’s/54 Below. With musical direction by Benjamin Rauhala, the concert is scheduled for January 29, 2017.
Benjamin Walker & Kaya Scodelario's Baby Boy
Benjamin Walker, who headlined one of the Broadway.com staff's favorite shows of the year, American Psycho, has welcomed a baby boy with his wife, Kaya Scodelario. The pair wed in March 2015; no word yet on their son's name, but huge congratulations to the happy couple. Will the baby be decked out in Chanel, Gaultier or Giorgio Armani?
Bette Midler is 'Utterly Game' for Dolly Revival
Bette Midler will headline Hello, Dolly! in the spring and on December 4, she is set to appear on Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist to talk about the eagerly anticipated revival. In this teaser, the Divine Miss M reveals: "I'm at my Broadway weight. I'm excited, I'm unnerved, I'm utterly game."
