Hamilton is about to welcome a host of new faces. Among those joining Broadway’s buzziest blockbuster is Saturday Night Live alum Taran Killam, who will begin his reign as King George on January 17, 2017.
Rory O’Malley will play his final performance as the monarch on January 15. While this marks Killam’s Broadway debut, he did appear in the City Center Encores! presentation of Little Shop of Horrors as Orin Scrivello, starring opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Ellen Greene.
Original cast member Alysha Deslorieux takes over full time as Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds on December 16; Jasmine Cephas Jones played her final performance in the dual role on December 8. Bryan Terrell Clark, who last appeared on Broadway in Motown, heads to the Richard Rodgers Theatre beginning January 10 to play George Washington, taking over for Nicholas Christopher.
Two additional names will make their Broadway debuts in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit next year. J. Quinton Johnson will play Hercules Mulligan and James Madison beginning January 6 after Okieriete Onaodowan takes his final bow on December 24, and Anthony Lee Medina (an alum of the Spring Awakening first national tour) will assume the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton from Jordan Fisher in a date yet to be determined in March (Fisher leaves on March 5).
The current cast is led by Javier Muñoz as Alexander Hamilton, with Brandon Victor Dixon as Aaron Burr, Lexi Lawson as Eliza Hamilton, Mandy Gonzalez as Angelica Schuyler and Seth Stewart as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson.
