From Fiddler to Fiyero: David Ayers to Step into Wicked

Fiddler on the Roof's David Ayers will be the next Fiyero in Wicked. He is set to begin performances in the hit musical on January 11, taking over for current star Joey McIntyre.

Ayers currently appears as Fyedka, the Russian gentile that captures Chava's heart, in Fiddler on the Roof. He also appeared on Broadway in Mamma Mia!. His regional theater credits include Hot Mikado, A New Brain, Sound of Music, Honk! and Hair.

Wicked will continue to star Jennifer Laura Thompson, George Hearn, Carole Shelley and Michelle Federer. Idina Menzel, McIntyre and Christopher Fitzgerald are scheduled to depart on January 9. Jeffrey Kuhn is taking over for Fitzgerald and will begin performances with Ayers on January 11. A replacement for Menzel has not yet been announced.
