Playwright Sarah Ruhl's retelling of the Greek myth Eurydice will extend for an additional two weeks at Second Stage Theatre, through August 12. Directed by Les Waters, the production had originally extended through July 28 after opening off-Broadway on June 18.
Eurydice re-imagines the classic myth of Orpheus and Eurydice through the eyes of its heroine. When she abruptly dies on her wedding day, Eurydice must journey through the underworld, reunite with her father and struggle to retain the memories of her lost love. With contemporary characters, ingenious twists of plot, and breathtaking visual effects, the play provides a fresh look at a timeless love story.
The company of Eurydice includes Broadway.com Fresh Face Maria Dizzia in the title role, Gian-Murray Gianino, Carla Harting, Ramiz Monsef, Joseph Parks, Charles Shaw Robinson and Mark Zeisler. The production has set design by Scott Bradley; costume design by Meg Neville; lighting design by Russell H. Champa; and sound design by Bray Poor.
