Come September, the top four finishers in TV's You're the One That I Want will be appearing on New York stages. In addition to winners Laura Osnes and Max Crumm in Grease and runner-up Ashley Spencer in Hairspray, runner-up Austin Miller has signed on to appear in the musical drama Tully In No Particular Order at the New York Musical Theater Festival. Appearing with Miller will be Kate Rockwell, who placed fifth in You're the One That I Want, along with Adam Hose, Autumn Hurlbert, David McGee, Evan Jay Newman and Owen O'Malley. Tully is scheduled to play seven performances between September 20 and 28 at the Sage Theater.
The artistic team for Tully In No Particular Order includes Joshua William Gelb director, book and additional lyrics, Stephanie Johnstone music and lyrics, Matt Vinson music director, Clifford Lee Johnson III dramaturg, Ace Eure sets, Graham T. Posner lighting and Denise Maroney costumes.
The show, described as a musical drama inspired by the Roman poet Catullus, centers on Tully, who has lost his memory. But a history of passionate affairs, murder and countless betrayals is not easily forgotten. A lifetime's worth of writings will force their author to confront the terrible cost of his actions and the formidable fate that awaits him.
Miller appeared at last year's NYMF in the cast of GoGo Beach and has been seen in the TV shows Days of Our Lives and Mad TV. Rockwell played Sharpay in the North Shore Music Theater's production of High School Musical, one of the first professional stage productions of the popular TV film.
