Carrie Manolakos to Play Sophie in Broadway Company of Mamma Mia!

Carrie Manolakos will be joining the cast of Mamma Mia! at the Winter Garden Theatre beginning June 4 as bride-to-be Sophie. She will replace current star Carey Anderson, whose final performance will be June 1, in the long-running hit pop musical.

Manolakos recently played the role of Sophie in the national tour of the show. Regional credits include The Who's Tommy, The Wild Party, Hello Dolly, A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Wizard of Oz.

The Broadway cast of Mamma Mia! currently features Carolee Carmello as Donna, Judy McLane as Tanya, Gina Ferrall as Rosie, Andy Kelso as Sky, Ben Livingston as Harry, Pearce Bunting as Bill and Christopher Shyer as Sam.

Mamma Mia!, scored with pop songs of music group ABBA, features music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, book by Catherine Johnson and direction by Phyllida Lloyd. A much anticipated film version of the show, starring Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth, is set for release in July.
