Erik King, best known for his portrayal of Sergeant James Doakes on the Showtime series Dexter, has joined the cast of Wig Out!, Tarell Alvin McCraney's new play about a drag queen competition. King replaces Michael Kenneth Williams, of HBO's The Wire, who has left the production due to personal reasons. Previews begin at the Vineyard Theatre on September 10, with opening night set for September 30.
King's film credits include National Treasure, Disney's Ice Princess and Desperate Measures. In addition to Dexter, his television credits include Oz and The District.
As previously announced, Wig Out!, directed by Tina Landau, features Jas Anderson, Daniel T. Booth, Joshua Cruz, Sean Patrick Doyle, McKenzie Frye, Nathan Lee Graham, Angela Grovey, Andre Holland, Rebecca Naomi Jones and Clifton Oliver.
