Daniel Radcliffe and the cast of Equus will auction off the pair of jeans worn by Radcliffe in the Broadway revival of Peter Shaffer’s play. Following the matinee performances on three consecutive Saturdays—November 22 and 29, then December 6—audience members can bid on Radcliffe’s Lucky Brand costume jeans during a brief onstage auction at the Broadhurst Theatre. Radcliffe will autograph them for the winner on the spot.
Radcliffe wears the jeans throughout Equus, a play that tells the story of Alan Strang, the story of a stable boy Radcliffe who has committed a serious crime, and the court-appointed psychiatrist Richard Griffiths who is charged with revealing the mysteries behind the boy's behavior while confronting his own self-doubt in his marriage, his profession and his life.
Highlights of Equus’ previous post-show auctions include co-star Richard Griffiths' autographed "Space Pen," a prop from the play that sold for $1000. Co-star Kate Mulgrew's rehearsal script, autographed by the entire cast, was purchased for $2,000 by one of Mulgrew’s Star Trek:Voyager fans. T-shirts previously worn by Radcliffe also went for up to $800.
Directed by Thea Sharrock, Equus opened on September 25 and will play its final performance on February 8.
