Nikki M. James can currently be seen starring in Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again alongside Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. Additional television credits include series regular roles on Proven Innocent from producer Danny Strong, Braindead from Michelle and Robert King, her recurring role on the Apple TV+ series Severance as well as appearances on Modern Love, Instinct, Bull, The Good Wife and The Good Fight. As a director, she has helmed episodes of The Good Fight and The Bite. Film credits include Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies opposite Jim Parsons and Sally Field, Lucky Stiff and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. On stage, she most recently starred in the Tony Award winning musical Suffs. Her performance received Tony and Drama League nominations and the show was filmed live for Great Performances on PBS. She most notably originated the role of Nabalungi in the Broadway hit musical, The Book of Mormon, for which she won the Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Additional Broadway credits include the 2014 revival of Les Miserables, All Shook Up and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Off-Broadway she has been seen in The Public Theatre’s revival of Tony Kushner's A Bright Room Called Day as well as summer productions of Twelfth Night and Julius Caesar at the Delacorte Theatre. She was part of Lincoln Center Theatre’s productions of Bernarda Alba and Preludes. For the Encores! Series at City Center, she has headlined productions of The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin, House of Flowers and I Married An Angel. Regional theatre highlights include the La Jolla Playhouse revival of The Wiz and a season at the Stratford Festival in Canada performing in Romeo and Juliet and in Caesar and Cleopatra alongside Christopher Plummer.
