Colin Donnell Takes Leave of Absence From Anything Goes to Film Arrow Pilot; Bill English Steps In

Bill English has assumed the role of Billy Crocker in Anything Goes while Colin Donnell takes a leave of absence. Donnell, who is taking a hiatus to film the CW drama pilot Arrow in Vancouver, will return to Anything Goes on April 3. English will play Billy Crocker until April 1.

English has appeared on Broadway in Twentieth Century and in regional productions of The Full Monty, The Shaags, Dracula, The Times and The Man Who Came to Dinner. His film and TV credits include Melrose Place and Outnumbered. English previously stepped in for Donnell when he performed in the Encores! production of Merrily We Roll Along in February.

Anything Goes opened on Broadway on April 7, 2011 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. The Roundabout Theatre Company revival won three Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical. The Cole Porter musical comedy tells the story of the passengers aboard the S.S. American, including nightclub singer Reno Sweeney (played by Tony winner Sutton Foster through March 11) and stowaway Billy Crocker (English). The musical features a score of classic hits, including “You’re the Top” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.”
