In today's entry composer Robert Lopez recalls how the show's Tony-nominated star Rory O'Malley helped shape the character of closeted missionary Elder McKinley. O'Malley originally started as an ensember member, but when the creative team took notice of his "completely cheesy and white" characteristics, they decided to develop a whole new character for O'Malley.
