Can't wait to hear the swinging '60s score of Catch Me If You Can, the follow-up musical from the Tony-winning Hairspray songwriting team of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman? Neither can we! Happily, we're offering an exclusive aural sneak peek at a demo recording of the show's opening number, called "Live in Living Color." The song is sung by Broadway.com Audience Award winner Aaron Tveit (Hairspray, Wicked, Next to Normal), who leads the cast as Frank Abagnale Jr. Click below to get to know the tune!
Based on the book and 2002 Dreamworks film of the same name, Catch Me If You Can captures the astonishing true story of Abagnale Jr., a world-class con artist who passed himself off as a doctor, a lawyer and a jet pilot—all before the age of 21. With straight-arrow FBI agent Carl Hanratty on Frank's trail, we're off on a jet-setting, cat-and-mouse chase. In the end, Agent Hanratty learns he and Frank aren't so very different after all, and Frank finds out what happens when love catches up to a man on the run.
In addition to Tveit, the show stars Norbert Leo Butz, Tom Wopat, Kerry Butler, Linda Hart and Nick Wyman. Catch Me If You Can begins rehearsals on January 24. Previews are scheduled to start on March 7 at the Neil Simon Theatre, with opening night set for April 10, 2011. The original cast recording of the show is expected later this year.
