The forthcoming Broadway production of Catch Me If You Can has delayed the start of previews for four days, to March 11. According to a release from producers Margo Lion and Hal Luftig, "The four-day postponement is necessary to accommodate the production’s load in and technical rehearsal schedule, which had been compressed due to the extension of the previous tenant at The Neil Simon Theatre, Rain, and then delayed by the record snowfall that has occurred in New York City." The new musical had been set to begin performances on Monday, March 7. Opening night remains set for April 10, directed by Jack O’Brien.
Based on the hit 2002 movie, Catch Me If You Can tells the true story of Frank Abagnale Jr. (Aaron Tveit), a world-class con artist who is pursued by straight-arrow FBI agent Carl Hanratty (Norbert Leo Butz). In addition to Tveit and Butz, the cast will include Tom Wopat, Kerry Butler, Rachel de Benedet, Linda Hart and Nick Wyman.
Catch Me If You Can features music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman, a book by Terrence McNally and choreography by Jerry Mitchell.
