Let there be light! It was a star-studded night on Broadway on January 17, when Athol Fugard’s shimmering South African drama, The Road to Mecca, officially opened at the American Airlines Theatre. Tony winners Rosemary Harris and Jim Dale and stage and screen favorite Carla Gugino transported the opening night audience back to the South African apartheid era in the first-ever Broadway mounting of Fugard’s 1987 play. After the show, Broadway.com joined the talented cast, creative team and celebrity guests next door at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill for an opening night party.
