Long Story Short, comedian Colin Quinn’s one-man show about the rise and fall of the world’s great empires, has extended its Broadway run. The show, which officially opened November 9 at the Helen Hayes Theatre, was originally scheduled to close on January 8, 2011, and will now run through February 5.
Comically channeling the demise of great world empires, Colin Quinn takes audiences through his version of the history of the world in 75 minutes. From his personification of Caesar as the original Italian mobster to his complaints about Ancient Greece and Antigone giving way to Costco and Snooki, Quinn uses satire to take on the attitudes, appetites and bad habits that toppled the world's most powerful nations.
Long Story Short began life off-Broadway at the Bleeker Street Theatre before transferring to the Great White Way, directed the whole time by Quinn’s pal and fellow comedian Jerry Seinfeld.
