The London production of Dirty Dancing has set a closing date of July 9 before embarking on a two-year national tour. The musical, which has been running since October 2006, now ranks as the longest running show at the West End’s Aldwych Theatre.
Dirty Dancing was written by Eleanor Bergstein, scriptwriter of the hit 1987 feature film of the same name, and features dance sequences set to hits such as “Do You Love Me?,” “Hungry Eyes” and the Oscar-winning “I’ve Had the Time of My Life.”
The U.K. tour of the show is scheduled to begin in September 2011, with bookings already set in Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester, Dublin, Aberdeen, Southampton and Milton Keynes.
