It's no secret that high school can be a traumatic time, and David West Read’s play The Dream of the Burning Boy, now running at the Roundabout Underground, mines that trauma on a literal level. Set in a high school, the piece explores the aftermath that follows a popular student’s sudden death. New York theater vet Reed Birney stars as English teacher Larry Morrow, and leads an excellent ensemble cast that includes Spring Awakening alum Alexandra Socha as a grieving student and Matt Dellapina as a well-meaning guidance counselor. Broadway.com recently asked the talented group to share what they love most about this tragic and funny new play and what it’s like walking back into high school every day.
