Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones may reprise their starring roles in Alfred Uhry’s Driving Miss Daisy on the London stage, according to Variety. Producers of the current Broadway revival “are laying plans” to bring the play to the West End in fall 2011, leaving time for Jones to return to New York to appear in a Broadway revival of Gore Vidal’s The Best Man in spring 2012.
In addition to the London mounting, a U.S. national tour of Daisy is aiming to launch in fall 2012. Redgrave and Jones aren’t expected to hit the road, but the tour will likely star a trio of well-known actors as Miss Daisy, her loyal chauffeur Hoke and son Boolie (currently being played on Broadway by Boyd Gaines).
Driving Miss Daisy opened at the Golden Theatre on October 25, 2010, and was extended through April 9, directed by David Esbjornson.
