Hippies Hit the Road as Hair Sets National Tour Dates

A national tour of the Tony Award-winning revival of Hair will open at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC in October after a four-day preview engagement in New Haven, CT. Cities and dates through June 2011 have been set, but no casting for the tour has been announced.

The current tour schedule is as follows: New Haven, CT (Shubert), October 21-24; Washington, DC (Kennedy Center Opera House), October 25-November 21; Seattle (Paramount), November 28-December 5; Tempe, AZ (Gammage), December 6-December 12; Portland, OR (Keller), December 27-January 2, 2011; Los Angeles, CA (Pantages), January 3-23; Costa Mesa, CA (OCPAC), January 24-February 6; Pittsburgh, PA (Heinz Hall), February 14-20; Milwaukee, WI (Marcus Center/Uihlein Hall), February 21-27; Minneapolis, MN (Orpheum), February 28-March 6; Boston, MA (Colonial), March 21-April 10; Hershey, PA (Hershey Theater), April 11-17; Hartford, CT (Bushnell PAC), April 25-May 1; Schenectady, NY (Proctors), May 2-8; Durham, NC (Durham PAC), May 9-15; Atlanta, GA (Fox), May 16-22; Tampa, FL (TBPAC), May 23-29; Miami, FL (Arscht), May 30-June 5; Ft. Lauderdale, FL (Broward Center), June 6-19; Orlando, FL (Bob Carr PAC), June 20-26.

The full creative team behind the Broadway production is on board for the national tour, including Diane Paulus (director), Karole Armitage (choreography), Scott Pask (scenic design), Michael McDonald (costume design), Kevin Adams (lighting design) and Acme Sound Partners (sound design). HAIR features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot.

Hair continues its run on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre and in London at the Gielgud Theatre.
