Alison Pill, Mary Beth Hurt & More Join Broadway Revival of The House of Blue Leaves

Additional casting has been announced for the forthcoming Broadway revival of John Guare’s The House of Blue Leaves. David Cromer’s production, starring previously announced cast members Ben Stiller, Edie Falco and Jennifer Jason Leigh, will begin a 16-week limited engagement on April 4 and open on April 25 at the Walter Kerr Theatre.

In addition to Stiller (Artie Shaughnessy), Edie Falco (Bananas Shaughnessy) and Leigh (Bunny Flingus), the cast will include Tony nominee Alison Pill (The Miracle Worker, Mauritius, The Lieutenant of Inishmore) as Corrinna Stroller, Christopher Abbott (That Face, Good Boys and True) as Ronnie Shaughnessy, three-time Tony nominee Mary Beth Hurt (Top Girls, A Delicate Balance, Crimes of the Heart) as Head Nun and Halley Feiffer (Still Life, Some Americans Abroad, subUrbia) as Little Nun. Additional casting will be announced soon.

In The House of Blue Leaves, Artie Shaughnessy (Stiller) is a zookeeper and wannabe songwriter trying to cope with a schizophrenic wife (Falco), an impatient girlfriend (Leigh) and a visit from the Pope, all while sustaining his dream of hitting it big. First performed off-Broadway in 1971 (with Stiller’s mother Anne Meara as Bunny), the play had its Broadway debut in a 1986 production in which Stiller made his professional debut as Ronnie.

The production team includes Scott Pask (scenic design), Jane Greenwood (costume design) and Brian MacDevitt (lighting design).
