Additional casting has been announced for the forthcoming Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Joining previously announced stars Daniel Radcliffe (J. Pierrepont Finch) and John Larroquette (J.B. Biggley) and previously reported star Rose Hemingway (Rosemary Pilkington) will be Tammy Blanchard as Hedy La Rue, Christopher J. Hanke as Bud Frump, Rob Bartlett as Twimble/Wally Womper, Mary Faber as Smitty and Ellen Harvey as Miss Jones. The musical will begin previews on February 26, 2011, at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre and open on March 27, directed and choreographed by Rob Ashford.
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying features a book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert and a score by Frank Loesser. The show centers on a young window-cleaner, J. Pierrepont Finch, who begins a meteoric rise from the mail-room to Vice President of Advertising at the World-Wide Wicket Company. Finch’s unorthodox and morally questionable business practices jeopardize not only his career but also his romance with secretary Rosemary Pilkington.
How to Succeed originally opened on Broadway in October 1961 starring Robert Morse. The show won seven Tonys and became one of only nine musicals to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
Blanchard appeared on Broadway in Gypsy opposite Bernadette Peters and won an Emmy as young Judy Garland in the miniseries Me and My Shadows. Hanke’s Broadway credits include Cry-Baby, Rent and In My Life. Bartlett, a well-known standup comedian, has appeared on Broadway in Chicago, The Odd Couple, Little Shop of Horrors and More to Love. Faber’s Broadway credits include American Idiot and Avenue Q. Harvey has appeared on Broadway in Thou Shalt Not and The Music Man.
The creative team for How to Succeed will include Derek McLane (sets), Catherine Zuber (costumes), Howell Binkley (lighting), Jon Weston (sound), Doug Besterman (orchestrations) and David Chase (music director and arranger).
The 2011 revival of How to Succeed will be produced by Broadway Across America (John Gore, Thomas B. McGrath, Beth Williams), Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, Joseph Smith, Michael McCabe, Candy Spelling, Takonkiet Viravan/Scenario Thailand and Two Left Feet Productions/PowerArts.
