How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying star and New Jersey native Nick Jonas recently told Broadway.com that he aspired to play fellow pop star Frankie Valli in Broadway’s Jersey Boys. Broadway.com caught up with Jersey Boys choreographer Sergio Trujillo to ask his opinion on Jonas stepping into the leading role of the smash Tony-winning tuner.
“I’d love to see Nick Jonas play Frankie Valli,” said Trujillo. “I work very closely with the Frankies, [and] I welcome all those guys—Nick Jonas and Darren Criss. I think it’s a really wonderful role; it’s very layered and it’s a very challenging role physically, emotionally and, of course, vocally. I think it’d be wonderful for him.”
Jersey Boys opened November 6, 2005 at the August Wilson Theatre. The hit production won three 2006 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. John Lloyd Young originated the role of Frankie Valli and earned a Tony Award for his performance. The musical features classic Four Seasons songs, including “Sherry,” "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” Jarrod Spector currently stars as Broadway’s Frankie Valli.
