Casting is complete for the Signature Theatre Company revival of Edward Albee’s 1977 drama The Lady From Dubuque, starring previously announced Tony winner Jane Alexander (The Great White Hope). Directed by David Esbjornson, The Lady From Dubuque will be the inaugural production at End Stage Theatre at off-Broadway's new Signature Center. Previews begin February 14, with opening night set for March 5.
In addition to Alexander, the complete cast features Michael Hayden (Festen, Carousel, Cabaret), Peter Francis James (The Merchant of Venice, On Golden Pond), Catherine Curtin (Love, Janis, Six Degrees of Separation), Tricia Paoluccio (Fiddler on the Roof, The Green Bird), Laila Robins (Frozen, Heartbreak House), Thomas Jay Ryan (In the Next Room) and C.J. Wilson (A Steady Rain, Festen, Henry IV).
The Lady From Dubuque tells the story of Sam and Jo, a couple who hosts a late night party for their friends, complete with a round of Twenty Questions. But when a mystery guest and her date arrive, the game takes on a new and desperate meaning. The play was produced on Broadway in 1980, starring Irene Worth.
The production’s design team will include scenic designer John Arnone, costume designer Elizabeth Hope Clancy, lighting designer David Lander, sound designer John Gromada and fight director Rick Sordelet.
