Carley Stenson will take on the role of Elle Woods in the West End production of Legally Blonde beginning July 11 at the Savoy Theatre. Also joining Stenson, who currenly plays Margot in the show, are new cast members Lee Mead as Emmett Forrest and Natalie Casey as Paulette Buonofonte. Mead and Casey begin their runs on June 20.
Legally Blonde marks the West End debut for Stenson. She is best known for her long-running work on TV's Hollyoaks. Her theater credits include Grease, The Boyfriend and Oliver.
Mead is best known as the champion of TV's Any Dream Will Do, which helped propel him to a West End star in the 2007 revival of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. His other West End credits include Wicked and The Phantom of the Opera. He has also toured with Miss Saigon and has released two albums, Lee Mead and Nothing Else Matters.
Casey is best known for her work on TV's Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. Her stage work includes The Invisible Man, Oklahoma, Well, Fame and Hobson's Choice.
Directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, Legally Blonde features music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin and a book by Heather Hach. The show recently picked up the Olivier Award for Best Musical.
