Tony Winner Frank Langella Set to Return to Broadway in Terence Rattigan's Man and Boy
Confirming earlier reports, three-time Tony winner Frank Langella will return to Broadway in a Roundabout Theatre Company revival of Terence Rattigan’s Man and Boy, according to The New York Times. The limited run will begin previews at the American Airlines Theatre on September 9 and officially open October 9, directed by Maria Aitken.
In the play, which is being staged as part of a celebration honoring the 100th anniversary of Rattigan’s birth, Langella will star as Gregor Antonescu, a corrupt financier in the 1930s whose musician son rebels against his greedy ways by becoming a socialist. Man and Boy first opened on November 12, 1963, at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre starring Charles Boyer. The production ran for 54 performances.
Langella received Tony Awards for Frost/Nixon, Fortune's Fool and Seascape, and also earned nominations for Match and Dracula. His other Broadway credits include A Man For All Seasons, Present Laughter, The Father, Sherlock's Last Castle, Hurlyburly, Design For Living, Amadeus, Passion, A City of Prayers and Yerma. His many film credits include Frost/Nixon, All Good Things, The Box, Superman Returns and Good Night and Good Luck.
Additional casting has yet to be announced for the limited run, which is set to end on November 27, 2011.
