The Motherf**ker With the Hat, Starring Chris Rock, Moves Forward First Preview

The forthcoming Broadway production of Stephen Adly Guirgis’ The Motherf**ker With the Hat starring Chris Rock, Bobby Cannavale, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Annabella Sciorra and Yul Vasquez has moved forward the date of its first Broadway preview. The play will now begin performances at the Schoenfeld Theatre on March 15, 2011, rather than March 22, as previously announced. Opening night remains April 11, directed by Tony winner Anna D. Shapiro.

Described as a high-octane verbal cage match about love, fidelity and misplaced haberdashery, The Motherf**ker With the Hat centers on Jackie (Cannavale) and Veronica (Rodriguez) who have been in love since eighth grade. Now Jackie is on parole and living clean and sober under the guidance of his sponsor, Ralph D (Rock), while his volatile soul mate Veronica remains fiercely loving but far from sober. Still, their love is pure. And true. Nothing can come between them—except a hat.

The Motherf**ker with the Hat will be produced on Broadway by Scott Rudin, the Public Theater, LAByrinth Theater Company and Stuart Thompson.
