In her comedy career, Nicole Parker has played everyone from Ellen Degeneres to Kim Kardashian, so it’s no surprise that this MadTV alum made her Broadway debut opposite a fellow comedian in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me. After that show outed Parker as the Broadway belting talent she is, the actress was scooped up to shine as Elphaba in Wicked. Now Parker’s career has taken another dramatic turn. In the new musical The People in the Picture, Parker plays Red, a 1970s single mom and comedy writer whose relationship with her Holocaust survivor mother (played by Tony winner Donna Murphy) gets harder every day. The role may be tough, but this funny lady always remembers to keep things light. Parker recently invited Broadway.com photographer Jenny Anderson to hang out and document a day in her life.
