Broadway vet James Barbour is set to play the supporting role of Jack Favel in the previously announced Broadway premiere of Rebecca, the musical adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s novel. A production spokesperson confirmed that Barbour will join a cast led by Sierra Boggess in the new show, which will begin performances at the Broadhurst Theatre on March 27, 2012, and open on April 22, directed by Michael Blakemore and Francesca Zambello.
Rebecca features an original book and lyrics by Michael Kunze, music by Sylvester Levay, English book adaptation by Christopher Hampton (Sunset Boulevard) and English lyrics by Hampton and Kunze. Graciela Daniele will create musical staging for the Broadway production.
Prior to his return to Broadway, Barbour is launching a solo CD titled Bring Me Giants, to be released on November 17 on the Global Vision Records label, and embarking on his fourth annual holiday concert tour, which premieres December 4 at the Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo, CA. Barbour will then play Sardi’s in New York (December 8-11) and the Coterie in Hollywood (December 16-17). Each concert will feature guest stars and a program of beloved Christmas and holiday songs from the American songbook.
Barbour recently starred in the world premiere of Nightmare Alley at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles. His Broadway credits include A Tale of Two Cities, Carousel, Jane Eyre, Beauty and the Beast, Urinetown, Assassins and Cyrano The Musical. He toured in The Secret Garden and Camelot and starred in the world prmiere of 20th Century at the Signature Theatre.
