Metal musical Rock of Ages will reopen on Broadway at the Helen Hayes Theatre on March 24, with first national tour cast members Rebecca Faulkenberry and Dan Domenech stepping in as young lovers Sherrie and Drew, respectively, and MiG Ayesa taking over the role of rock star Stacee Jaxx.
In addition to Domenech, Faulkenberry and Ayesa, the new Broadway company will feature original cast members Mitchell Jarvis as Lonny, Michele Mais as Justice, Adam Dannheisser as Dennis and Paul Schoeffler as Hertz, as well as Toronto Rock vets Cody Scott Lancaster as Franz and Josephine Rose Roberts as Regina.
The ‘80s rock tuner played its final performance at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on January 9 before going on hiatus as part of the previously announced game of Broadway musical chairs, in which Rock shifted to the Helen Hayes and Broadway Beatles tribute Rain took its place at the Brooks Atkinson, vacating the Neil Simon Theatre to make way for the forthcoming musical Catch Me if You Can.
Domenech will make his Broadway debut in Rock of Ages. He previously appeared as a swing on Rock of Ages’s first national tour. His other stage credits include Wonderland, Rent, Altar Boyz and The Who's Tommy and his screen credits include No Strings Attached, Tropic Thunder, Step Brothers and Semi Pro. Faulkenberry also joins the Broadway cast of Rock of Ages straight from the show’s first national tour, where she has been playing Sherrie. Her other stage credits include Aunt Dan and Lemon, The Shape of Things, High School Musical and High School Musical 2. Ayesa has been starring as Stacee Jaxx on the Rock of Ages first national tour and has been seen in the West End productions of We Will Rock You and Rent, as well as Australian productions of Grease, Fame, West Side Story, Rent and Buddy.
Rock of Ages is set in 1987 on the Sunset Strip, where a small town girl meets a big city rocker in L.A.’s most famous rock club. Their love story is told through the hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Styx, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Twisted Sister, Asia, Whitesnake and many more. The musical received five Tony nominations, including Best Musical, after opening on April 7, 2009.
