Jeff Goldblum will step into Seminar as Leonard, the role originated and currently played by Alan Rickman, beginning April 3 at the Golden Theatre. Rickman's final performance is scheduled for April 1 and he was recently said to be in talks to lead a West End production of Theresa Rebeck's show.
Seminar opened on Broadway on November 20, 2011. Directed by Sam Gold, Seminar follows Leonard (Goldblum) as he teaches a private literary class to a group of four young writers. No word yet on if the show’s current cast members Lily Rabe, Hamish Linklater, Jerry O’Connell and Hettienne Park will continue with the production.
Goldblum last appeared on Broadway in Martin McDonagh’s The Pillowman in 2005. His other Broadway credits include The Play What I Wrote, The Moony Shapiro Songbook and Two Gentlemen of Verona. Goldblum is primarily known for his TV and film work, including Jurassic Park, The Big Chill, Independence Day, Will & Grace and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He will appear on the Valentine’s Day episode of Glee as Rachel Berry’s (Lea Michele) father Hiram.
