Lifelong New Yorker and Oscar nominee Danny Aiello (Do The Right Thing, Moonstruck) has returned to the stage to lead the cast of emotional drama The Shoemaker, currently running at off-Broadway’s Acorn Theatre. Aiello, joined by Alma Cuervo, Lucy DeVito and Michael Twaine, stars as an aging Italian Jew who retreats into his Hell’s Kitchen cobbler shop as the tragic events of September 11, 2001 unfold in his city. As the devastation plays out, her is forced to confront the uncertainties of his present and future, along with his own history as a Jew who escaped the Holocaust.
