In the musical adaptation of 1992 nun-on-the-run film Sister Act, Patina Miller stars as Deloris Van Cartier, an aspiring disco diva with dreams of becoming the next Donna Summer. When this glamour girl witnesses a murder at the hands of her gangster boyfriend, she hides out in the safest place the police can think of: a convent. Van Cartier finds her calling leading the choir and, despite the objections of a stubborn Mother Superior (Victoria Clark), brings more than a dash of disco into the dusty diocese.
