Based on the hit 1992 film of the same name, musical Sister Act tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, a determined would-be diva who dreams of being Donna Summer in 1970s Philadelphia. When Deloris witnesses a murder at the hands of her no-good gangster boyfriend, police place her in the safest place they can think of, a convent, where she finds her place lending her musical gifts—and general fabulous-ness—to the stodgy church choir.
