The new musical Spider-Man, Turn off the Dark has delayed its start date and opening night. Previews for the Julie Taymor-directed show will now begin on November 28 with opening night set for January 11, 2011 at the Foxwoods Theatre. The show had originally scheduled for previews to begin November 14 ahead of a December 21 opening night. This is the second delay for the musical which was originally set to begin performances in Febuary 2010.
"Shows like ours, that embrace the challenge of opening on Broadway without an out-of-town tryout, often need to adjust their schedules along the way,” lead producer Michael Cohl said in a statement. “Spider-Man, Turn Off The Dark has an unprecedented level of technical artistry, and getting it right takes time.”
Spider-Man, Turn off the Dark features a score by U2 rockers Bono and The Edge. Reeve Carney stars as the title webslinger with Tony nominee Jennifer Damiano as Mary-Jane Watson and Patrick Page as Norman Oswald/The Green Goblin.
