Long-running hit The Phantom of the Opera will be celebrating its 10,000th Broadway performance on February 11, making it the first show on the Great White Way to hit that milestone. In honor of the special event, all ticket sales for the February 11 matinee at the Majestic Theatre will benefit the Actors Fund.
The Phantom of the Opera opened on Broadway on January 9, 1988, starring Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman, who originally performed in London's 1986 West End production. The current cast includes Hugh Panaro as The Phantom and Trista Moldovan as Christine.
The Actors Fund is a national human services organization directly benefitting more than 12,000 performers and crew members each year. Located in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, the fund provides social services and emergency assistance, health care and insurance, housing and employment and training services.
