Just after opening to a rave from The New York Times , the stars and creators of Classic Stage Company’s Venus in Fur —actors Wes Bentley and Nina Arianda, playwright David Ives and director Walter Bobbie—paused during an afternoon rehearsal to chat about this unusual play. Actually, “unusual” doesn’t really do justice to Venus in Fur , a play-within-a-play about the origins of S&M. The prolific Ives does a better job than we ever could explaining the origins of the off-Broadway show, and the Bentley and Arianda charmingly convey how their chemistry fuels the evening. Take a look!
