The fabulous La Contessa was back at The Center on December 6 for a return sold-out one-night-only engagement of La Contessa’s Christmas Carol: A Benefit Musical Frolic. A cheeky, campy swirl on the Dickens classic, the festive show is the brainchild of Broadway’s Hector Lugo, who also created his alter ego, self-dubbed as “The Puerto Rican Dame Edna.” Lugo works backstage at West Side Story and was joined in the show by Shark boys Waldemar Quinones, Patrick Ortiz and Isaac Calpito, seen in the photo above. Since La Contessa is no Scrooge, the whole shebang was done for a good cause, to raise money for The LGBT Theatre Company. Happy Holidays, Contessa! Photo by Bruce Glikas for Broadway.com
