Four generations of characters, including a pair of heroines played by different actresses at different ages: Andrew Bovell’s When the Rain Stops Falling is a hugely ambitious family drama filled with mysterious connections that come together as the play moves backward and forward in time. After seeing David Cromer’s riveting production at Lincoln Center Theater’s Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, we eagerly sought the insights of Bovell, Cromer and cast members (including Tony winner Victoria Clark and much-missed stage star Mary Beth Hurt).
