Tony winner Idina Menzel has performed on the world’s greatest stages, but she recently got a chance to perform for the biggest house of all: The White House. The Glee star took the stage in front of a beaming first family, including the delighted Obama children Sasha and Malia, to perform during A Broadway Celebration: In Performance at the White House, which aired on PBS on October 20 (and also included incredible performances from Broadway faves Audra McDonald, Nathan Lane, Elaine Stritch and Brian d'Arcy James). She raised the roof with her signature number from Wicked, “Defying Gravity,” and the musical theater classic “What I Did for Love,” from A Chorus Line with the show’s composer Marvin Hamlisch at the piano. Menzel was a knockout in a fittingly green gown, and wowed lucky audience members like Broadway vet Kerry Washington, proving that she's one of the brightest stars in the Broadway galaxy.
